"Who can you trust when your culture is the greatest enemy of your health? Can you trust your culture leading authorities? Can you trust your government to culture? Can you trust your culture private industry? "
We have asked these questions in 1995, at the end of our book, Dressed To Kill: The Link Between Breast Cancer and Bras. Before writing our book, we have sent the details of our research at the National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, President's Cancer Panel, the American Women's Medical Association, National Organization for Women, the National Women's Health Network, and the National Women's Health Resource Center. There was no answer. Not one. Given the lack of interest, we have decided to publish our findings in a book, save the information directly to women who need to hear it.
Are women, but getting the message?
It has been 13 years since the book was first published. More time, more than 500000 women in the United States alone died of breast cancer, with another 2000000 having been diagnosed with this terrible disease - a disease that is in most cases preventable by simply loosening or eliminating the bra. And yet, this information has been actively repressed rescue and censored by the medical industry and lingerie.
Examples of suppression and censorship
A large public relations firm in New York City is ready and willing to help us to provide this information to the public. "My wife just had breast cancer, and I am sure you are right," the head of the firm said. A large ad media and the celebration was planned. A few days later, however, the company withdrew its offer of aid, saying that one of their clients, a major medical center, their objections to work with us.
In Sydney, Australia has accepted public relations firm to publicize our work when we were making efforts to raise awareness in their own country. But it also has been reversed. We asked if they had any conflicts of interest, such as lingerie industry customers. They said they did not. But as it turned out, they only represent a pharmaceutical company that makes a drug against breast cancer, and prevention of breast cancer and its treatment are in conflict, they said.
The Intimate Apparel Council (which is the American association for commercial multi-billion dollar bra industry) have threatened our publisher, Avery Publishing Group, with a lawsuit if Dressed To Kill was released. The publisher said advertising would spread the word. The trial never took place.
After the book was released, the NBC television news show, Dateline, was interested to do a story on our work. We have been extensively interviewed by a skeptical journalist who has become an advocate. The story was then halted abruptly. The producer confidentially explained that the policy of General Electric, owner of NBC, is to prevent the dissemination of news stories that may have a negative impact on the interests of other GE. As it happens, GE is a manufacturer of mammography machines.
The women's magazines like Glamour, Self, and others have stories critics condemning our work, and to find "experts" to encourage women to continue to bear arms. Magazine She planned a story on the positive bra or cancer link, but he was forced to be drawn from the history of bra advertisers. In various newspapers in the world, such as the Guardian in the United Kingdom, the stories were fired before publication because of fear that they may panic the public, "including their lingerie advertisers.
The British Fashion Council (which is the British equivalent of the Intimate Apparel Council) has published the Manual of Health breast in 1996 to oppose our efforts. They announced the formation of the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Foundation, which is receiving donations bra from the sale to fund genetic research in breast cancer. The book criticized our work, arguing, "The idea that wearing a bra encourages cancer toxins by trapping was recently put forward by researchers at the Institut d'Etudes Culturogenic (sic) in Hawaii. Researchers on Aug. institutions promptly dismissed as claptrap. " Without any medical evidence or research, this book informs women that wearing bras is an absolute necessity for health, and must be worn as early as possible in life in order to prevent damage breast.
Our publisher, Avery, was purchased by the giant Penguin Putnam in 1998. The new publisher has no book list for three years and has refused to resume publication rights to copyright holders, singer and Grismaijer. The book has been virtually inaccessible, and it was thought to have been exhausted. Eventually, after repeated requests, the publishing rights were released to us in October 2001. (ISCD press has been keeping it in the press since then).
A television documentary was produced in 2000 by Channel 4 in Britain, drew, Bras-The Bare Facts. In the documentary, 100 women with fibrocystic breast disease went bra-free for 3 months to document the effect on breast cysts and pain. Two prominent British breast surgeons conducted the study. The results were staggering, and clearly demonstrated that the bra is a serious health hazard. We have been interviewed as part of the programme to discuss the bra or cancer connection, which was considered very important by plausible and physicians interviewed. Some feel that, in addition to lymphatic attack, the bra could also cause cancer by overheating breasts. The documentary has made the headlines of newspapers in British Commonwealth countries in the world, but no mention of it was made at all in the United States. The next day the headlines in the United Kingdom has tried to suppress the fears of a bra or cancer link, and doctors in the study quickly distanced themselves from cancer of the question, says Women continue to bear arms. Their research for the documentary was supposed to be published in a medical journal, but has never been. And no further research never materialized to keep track of their work, they said they would do. Extensive news coverage of the program is available on the Internet shortly after it was broadcast, but most of the items were removed shortly thereafter.
No follow-up studies have been done to confirm or refute our research. None. While a Harvard study, published in the European Journal of Cancer in 1991, discovered that bra-free women have a lower rate of breast cancer, the results were not central to the research they are undertaking and were regarded as unimportant and not followed. In fact, beyond our initial 1991-93 and Bra Breast Cancer Study, discussed in detail Dressed To Kill, and our monitoring research in Fiji, in our book, Get It Off!, There still no other studies on the bra or cancer link. Not even a letter or a discussion of the issue can be found in any medical journal. After decades of research on breast cancer, the bra is still completely ignored even as a potential factor for consideration. It's like the study of the disease of the feet and ignoring shoes.
Keep the public mystified
This lack of research and ignorance, are then used by cancer organizations to justify the removal of the item. As the American Cancer Society says on its website (ignoring the Harvard study), "There is no scientifically valid studies that show a correlation between wearing bras of any type and the occurrence of breast cancer. two anthropologists made this association in a book called Dressed To Kill. Their study was not conducted in accordance with the standard principles of epidemiological research, and does not take into account other variables, understood the known risk factors for breast cancer. There is no other credible research to verify this request in any way. "And they do not seem interested in funding such studies in a near future, either. There are other organizations that are equally critical of the bra or cancer link to insufficient research evidence, while discouraging any research on the topic.
It is particularly interesting when breast cancer organizations antagonistic to the question of declaring the bra or cancer link is "misinformation" or a "myth", without any scientific study supporting their claims. They say bras are important for women to wear a support, without any evidence that the bras are safe or necessary. They then encourage regular mammograms, cancer prevention drug (without realising that "preventative therapy" is an oxymoron), and even preventive mastectomy (which means that those who are at high risk for cancer breast, but who do not want to do this can have their breasts removed as a preventive strategy). Of course, it is preferable to remove the bra instead of the breast, bra, but the move is not a billable procedure.
Keep in mind that bras have been associated with other health problems, such as headaches, numbness in the hands, back pain and other problems postural, cysts, pain, depigmentation of the skin, and more. And lymphatic obstruction, which is the result of constriction bra, has been associated with various cancers. Clearly, the bra or cancer link needs further research, while women take the precaution of easing.
Why the resistance?
What could there be damage as a result of our simple advice, or even in research on this issue? Why is the defensive reaction?
There are three reasons:
Despite the resistance, however, some women have received the message. And many health professionals, who are also suspected arms for years, are now spreading this message. As women, the new and discover that removing the bra also eliminates cysts and pain, the news is spreading through word of mouth.
There are now thousands of websites on the subject, many health care professionals, including doctors, naturopathic physicians, osteopathic physicians, chiropractors, massage, lymphatic specialists, nutritionists, and others who care women and help put an end to this epidemic. Grassroots efforts to keep this information alive and spreads have replaced the traditional approach of medical research, which has disqualified itself by lack of interest and conflict of interest.
When a disease is caused by the culture and habits, attitudes, modes and industries, it is linked to resistance to change. The industries that contribute to the disease will be defensive, and the industries that profit from the disease will be in conflict. However, the truth is a way out, despite the resistance and repression. Thank Goodness the truth that he has no way out.

Why the resistance?
What could there be damage as a result of our simple advice, or even in research on this issue? Why is the defensive reaction?
There are three reasons:
- The bra industry fears of lawsuits. Many insiders admitted to us that for years the industry suspected underwires cause cancer. They know that the tight bras cause cysts and pain. It is only a matter of time until a case is made against a manufacturer of bra. As a defense, industry is shifting the blame to the customer, saying that most of the women wearing their bras too tight, and should get professional connections. (How do you get a well-fitting bra push-up?) Breaking ranks with their peers in the industry, and trying to capitalize on the bad news, the bra are several manufacturers now offer newly patented throat claiming to mitigate the damage, including cancer, caused Classics arm.
- The medical industry makes billions each year on the detection and treatment of breast cancer. As mentioned above, there is a conflict between the prevention and treatment of diseases, especially if prevention does not include drugs or surgery. The fact is that our treatment focused on profit medical system is a murder treating this disease, and it has billions to lose if breast cancer is in vogue with the bras. In addition, the bra issue will revolutionize the field of breast cancer, an embarrassment to many researchers. The research on breast cancer, which so far has ignored the issue of the bra is seriously flawed as a result, which is why the "experts" are still unable to explain the cause of over 70% of all breast cancers. Cancer career researchers who have ignored the issue should bra to admit this fatal defect in their work, which they are not inclined to admit in their lives.
- Finally, there is the dogmatic, fearing resistance from some women who find their personal identity is linked to their bras that cancer risk rather than to be bra-free (that some women have indeed we said.) Women are cultural entities, so long our culture that despises natural bustline, many women undergo pain, marks and fingerprints red, cysts, and even the threat of cancer rather than confront ridicule potential audience (which never really happens.)
