Extracts from green tea are among the most widely used medicines former agents, while androgens are probably the oldest drugs used in a purified Form traditional Chinese medicine. Supplements containing green tea extract is a natural way to reduce weight with very little risk of side effects. Extracts from green tea are used by thousands of people for a wide range of health conditions, and it is yet another ingredient in some drinks and snack foods.

Starting from several types of cancer, skin disorders, green tea has played a major role in helping to heal the body. A number of chronic diseases have been associated with free radical-induced oxidative damage, including cancer, heart disease, suppressed immune function and accelerated aging. The main catechin in green tea, EGCG, appears to inhibit the growth of cancer cells as well as play a role instimulating apoptosis (programmed cell death), both of which are essential for cancer prevention. There is also evidence that some studies of green tea provides a protective immune, particularly in the case of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

There is a lower incidence of cardiovascular disease and cancer in Asia, where many people smoke, which can be explained by the high consumption of tea, especially green. Extracts from green tea as an effective treatment for patients who suffer from damaged skin following radiation treatment for cancer. Men with the highest consumption of flavonoids (from fruits and vegetables) have about half the risk of heart disease and cancer compared to those with the lowest consumption.

Studies of green tea extracts show that they can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke and reduce the risk of certain cancers, could prevent Alzheimer's-like brain damage, as well as to increase exercise endurance. Some substances in green tea diets are said to help destroy cancer cells without damaging surrounding tissues at all.

EGCG may cause cancer cells to die in the same way as normal cells. Scientists have reason to believe that free radicals play a role in a variety of degenerative diseases such as arthritis, rheumatism, Alzheimer's disease and even cancer. Even discounting the hype about the tabloids, green tea extract (polyphenols, catechins, EGCG) seem to be very powerful in this role in the prevention of cancer, and they are also blessed with an extraordinarily low toxicity.

At medicinal purposes, green tea is considered superior to ordinary black tea because it has as much as five times more polyphenols, which are of interest to us as powerful antioxidants and cancer preventive. Some researchers believe that antioxidants in green tea may have a protective effect against certain cancers. Prostate cancer also known as the "Hidden" Cancer is a leading cause of death among American men.

A study conducted on men exposed to an increased risk of developing prostate cancer has shown that substances in green tea known as catechins, are highly effective in preventing the development of prostat cancer. It is estimated that regularly drinking green tea reduces the risk of prostate cancer by two-thirds. Supplements are better because they do not have caffeine, and a capsule equivalent to five cups of tea (depending on the power capsule).
